Since 1993 the Friends have worked to promote and improve public awareness of the Vancouver City Archives, its services and projects. We work to encourage the association of persons interested in Archives and the retention of archival materials. We promote the use of the resources and services of the Archives by the general public and the professions and encourage development of the archival services and facilities of the City of Vancouver.
One of our big goals is to encourage the appreciation of the history of our amazing city and to help individuals, businesses, clubs, and other groups and organizations ensure that important documents and photographic images relating to their various histories are valued, donated to and preserved at the City of Vancouver Archives. From family photo albums, to corporate records, these can all be important resources and references to future generations of researchers, writers, genealogists, news reporters and other interested parties.
Throughout the year we host a number of talks, walks and events for our membership and the community at large. Check this website periodically for news of future events.
